CANILLO is the first parish by order of protocol. It is formed by the villages of Canillo, Soldeu, El Tarter, Sant Pere, Ransol, Els Plans, L'Aldosa, El Vilar, El Forn, Prats, Meritxell and Molleres. Among Canillo's most notable sites are the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Meritxell, the patron saint of the Principality, the Ice Palace of Andorra and the Romanesque church of of Sant Joan de Caselles. Notable too are the extensive woods and meadows, with the valleys of Ransol and Incles, with corners for leisure time like the Soldeu-El Tarter ski station.
