JULIÀ DE LÒRIA The traveller arriving over
the border from Spain makes contact with the Principality
through this parish formed by the villages of
Sant Julià de Lòria, Bixessarri, Aixàs, Aixovall,
Certers, Llumeneres, Nagol, Aixirivall, Aubinyà,
Juberri and Fontaneda. Nature lovers will not
want to miss a visit to the forests of La Peguera
and La Rabassa, where the cross-country ski slopes
are located. A visit to the sanctuary of Our Lady
of Canòlich is also a visit not to be missed.
Throughout history this parish has been the centre
of the tobacco industry. It has been careful to
preserve its numerous folk traditions, one of
the most notable being the dance called "La Marratxa"
staged at the local fair. |
